Just the way you are

Don’t go changing, trying to please me
You never let me down before
I don’t imagine you’re too familiar
And I don’t see you anymore
I would not leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I’ll take the bad times
I’ll take you just the way you are

Don’t go trying some new fashion
Don’t change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care

I don’t want clever conversation
I don’t want to work that hard
I just want some someone to talk to
I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.

I said I love you and that’s forever
And this I promise from my heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

Barry White, wan a record produce, singer and composer. He was a five time Grammy award winner for his deep bass voice. “Just the way you are” is one of my favorite songs of all time by White. This song lets you understand that you don’t need to change your personality or try to convince me so that I like you. Many people now days try to change most of their appearance or personality just for people to look at them. But, what if you get together with someone? Do you think that after some time they will like you? Most people, don’t realize that this is a fact that affect relationships. From the begging you are supposed to be the real you, not a fake as hell person who at some point will stop pretending to be someone else. From another perspective no one expresses better that feeling than Barry with this song. So, for all of you crazy lover try to be yourself instead of imitating the “perfect stereotype” just be yourself and show your best side and be cool!

Having so small amount of time to do my school work, and yes I’m talking about my final exams, it would be good to have a far away recreational place, in which I could relax and enjoy a great quality time with myself. All of the sudden a mental picture appeared in my head. It was Ireland. The nicest place I’ve ever seen ( on TV) after the Flamenco beach at Culebra P.R. But since Culebra is closer than Ireland I allways go there. There is nothing more depressing that each and every time I go visit one of the top ten beaches in the world looks like this.

There are always ways to preserve the ecosystem. You can recycle, there are big recycling signs for trash cans specially for recycling. Obviously avoiding marine pollution.

Think about the thing you are going to throw away before

The new toy!

After a few minutes of checking out some videos for one of my early post I found this. This videos is about a dolphin a Sea World, that learned how to do this bubble ring, just like the ones you do when you are smoking ( if you smoke ). This dolphin learned how to do this bubble ring and played with it for a relatively amount of time. When the ring is about to disintegrate, he or she, (because I”m not a biologist or anything, so I don’t know the gender) literally bites it and cuts it into a smaller one so that the ring keeps getting bigger.

A few months later it was discovered that this dolphin thought to the other pool mates ( dolphins) how to blow this bubble ring and how to play with it.The visitors and the employees at Sea World  were amazed by the new toy they have created. This just made me wonder, How intelligent are this dolphins? So I did a little research and found out that dolphins supposedly are the 2nd species more intelligent after the humans. Obviously I disagree because we cannot know for certain this “fact”. But if something there is to say, is that I’m looking forward to see this show!

ride to live / live to ride

Have you ever wonder why is it that every time you are driving, lets say back home, theres a biker smiling ? Do you wonder how are they feeling on that bike?

Let me tell you, it is one of the most exiting yet dangerous experiences since drivers are not aware of bikes. When you are driving you are just aware of other cars, but when bikes passes by, they’re usually silent. When bikes are brand new, they have this little things inside the “muffler” called baffles. Baffles keep bikes quietly so that they don’t get tickets for being to damn loud. But you see, at least here in Puerto Rico, bikes should have by obligation that rumbling noise so that spaced out drivers don’t change lanes without checking out the mirrors and without leaving that damn cellphone down. This is why bikers rather take long twisty roads that don’t have any traffic lights or more than one lane.

Beside the crazy drivers and the traffic lights, riding a bike is an experience that you’ll never forget about. When for the first time all of the sudden you feel that rumbling noise that leaves your stress behind, and makes you automatically smile because you know other will be watching you as you pass by and they’ll say ” Oh, I wish I had one”. You feel like the only person in this planet and nothing else will matter. At some point it will become you religion!

After watching this video we can infer that riding bikes is not just gangs and bad people. It is also another way of expressing yourself, a way of being free. So, the next time you see a biker passing you smiling make sure to be careful because they don’t ware  any seat belts.

1985 – 1955 ??

So many to think about or too many topics to choose from when it comes to writing a Multi Genre research paper. Usually we tend to get stuck in a simple idea or in other cases our mind goes empty. Personally I couldn’t choose anything from my list, however after a couple of days I realized that the most controversial or perhaps the most interesting topic to the audience are movies. Obviously because  people have practically or literally as a requirement in life to watch a movie.

Now I was checking out all the lists that were available on the Internet, until I found it. There it was the 1985 Back to the Future Movie. But, to understand this movie you must watch it several times so the you can appreciate all the details in the movie. When you watch it for the first time you concentrate more on the dialogue than everything else in the movie, just to understand or follow what they are doing. Then when you are watching it for the second time your focus is more on how they act, movements and the background.

To my knowledge this movie is a film that you must have at your house. Just by understanding the metaphor that the characters present by traveling to the past, it doesn’t matter what you do, each and every single detail will change the future.

Marty who is the main character, is a high school kid who comes from a very weird family. Marty who doesn’t like to stay much at home, spends most of his quality time with Doc Brown, who is a friend of his and a scientist”.

What I expect from you readers is that you can understand the purpose of a trip in a time machine (back in time) to see and seek the truth of your life. So that in the future you finally understand that no matter what you do, always the effort should be reflected.

The Back to the Future movie Zemeckis and Gale (director and producer)  introduce the concept of the life in 1955 when Gale went one day to his parent house and started checking on his dad high school yearbook. Later he brings this idea to Zemeckis and together the thought of the concept of marking or exposing a little bit more what teenagers were at that time, the “birth” of rock n’ roll and much more that gave a great touch to the story.

On the year 1985 which is the actual year when the movie came out to theater and at the same time the year when the movie takes place. It was a time where technology was getting developed, where new thing where gathering people in stores. When the movie Back to the Future came out no other movie could catch up with the level of popularity and awesomeness. Later on the movie had two sequels  in which the movie left a big impression on the audience.

On back to the future I  the first character (which is played by Michael J. Fox)  “Marty” who is a typical American teenager of the 80’s realized that he has traveled in time by accident from 1985 to 1955  in a plutonium powered “time machine” mounted on a car (DeLorean) that was created by Dr. Emmett L. Brown  ( played by Lloyd) who is a slightly mad and goofy scientist. When Marty travels back  in time to make his parents fall in love and also he must find Doc to tell him that he’s going to build a time machine, so that he can get back to the future. After that Doc freaks out and doesn’t believe him until Marty tells him about his revelation of the flux capacitor (what makes time travel possible). Later on with all the troublesome situation that they’re going through, he must try to save Doc from getting killed in the future ( the time that he accidentally travels back). After the Delorean reaching 88 mph the flux capacitor activates and instantaneously travels in time. Doc was being gunned by the Libyan from who he stole the plutonium for the time machine. Suddenly Marty makes a move to escape from them and jumps in the car.

Movie Review

Back to the Future (1985)

Cast: Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, Thomas F. Wilson, Claudia Wells

Director: Robert Zemeckis

Producer: Bob Gales

U.S. Distributors: Universal Pictures

The “Back to the Future” movie ( 1985 Zemeckis film) is the type of movie that from beginning to end keeps you in that couch without moving. It has everything a movie can have, for example : comedy, romance, suspense, action, mind twisting scenes and much more. Over the entire movie you stay focus on the time traveling situation, which is obviously something that everyone would like to do!

Martin Mac Fly (Michael J. Fox ) is the typical American high school kid from the 80’s, that likes to hang out and get into trouble. He spends most of his time working, or better said, having fun with Doc. Doc. Emmet Brown ( Christopher Lloyd) is a slightly mad but goofy scientist who creates a time machine to “go to the future”. Martin now, have to face the reality of living in the past for a few weeks and make his parents fall in love so that he can go back to the future. But the only difficulty he has is that his mother falls in love with him instead of his dad.

As an audience you will find out that the “idea” of time traveling on a time machine, will suddenly make you think of the question ” what if I could do that too?” and that life, as you know it can be changed to a better or worse one. What could be the problems that I will be facing on the past? questions like this can easily pop into your brain as you go watching this movie. Doc Brown, at some point of the end of the movie already knew that Marty was going to save him, and made him go through a lot of troublesome issues on the past, just because if he didn’t let him go to 1955 Doc will probably be dead at the Two Pines Mall, where for the first time they tested the time machine.

This movie without any doubt is awesome. It has a wonderful combination of one of the first visual effects in computer combined with still photography, plus colors. Actually the director managed to confront the genre of time traveling in the most spectacular, random and fresh way of an 1985 kid. This is definitively a brilliant idea that is not “overpopulated”.

In a normal day Marty wakes,

hoping Doc’s at home with his dog Einstein.

A passion for clocks this Doc has,

in a dream revelation a flux capacitor he drew fast.

A time machine mounted on a car,

will take you far and close at the same time.

One minute before and one after,

beware of what you do this could end in disaster.

From 1985 to 1955

by mistake he travels back in time,

but he rather travel to the future

instead of hanging out in the past.

Since nothing could be scarier

than watching as a kid your mom and dad.

-In this picture, we can appreciate the expression on Marty and Doc’s face, when for the first time they make the time machine work with Einstein ( the dog).

-In this picture we see the inside of the time machine, and the Y that is behind the glass, is the Flux Capacitor, which in the movie is the part that makes time traveling possible.

-This is the movie poster. It illustrates the DeLorean and Marty and Doc. Also it shows the lightning (lights) that the DeLorean produce when it reaches to 88mph and the tires leave that fire trail behind.

– This images shows Marty playing guitar at the enchantment under the sea. This was the “prom” of Marty’s parents in which they are supposed to fall in love. Marty plays a song Johnny B. Goode, which it became famous after this movie.

Back to the Future cake recipe

  1. 6 cups of insanity
  2. 2 cups of imagination
  3. 1 cup of time
  4. 3 tbsp of courage
  5. 3 tbsp of plutonium
  6. 1 flux capacitor ( this will make time travel possible)

Now, in a wide bowl, mix the 6 cups of insanity with the 2 cups of imagination until it gets consistency.  This will give you the idea of how its going to look like. After that add time(don’t forget to mix it well before adding the rest), the 3 tbsp of plutonium, and the flux capacitor with water and mix for another half an hour. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour, then let it cool down. Enjoy!

Writing about this topic has changed my perspective when watching any film, since it’s my first “movie review”, I focus more on the main idea of a movie instead of the whole thing in concrete. I can see now the details in a movie from a different perspective which has mind blowing effect on me, just because instead of watching the movie I find my self questioning Why is it like that?

Overall, writing a Multi-genre research paper, probably has been one of the most enjoyable papers to do since you find yourself looking for information while you are developing, creating, imagining fresh and new ideas that just pop into your brain without making an effort to surpass that mental block and brainstorming.  Also, I learn how to do a recipe of a random topic, and to develop my writing skill in a movie review of one of the best and my favorite of all time film. In the other hand, Multi-genre requires more writing than a normal essay and/or a simple story. Which I found more convincing and easier, to write a story than genres. To my readers i want to say that the genres I have chosen are  because I identify mysel with them. For example who doesn’t have the passion for baking or a baked cakes? Thats why I chose to write ” Back to the Future cake recipe”. Also poems are one of the simplest details you can give to someone, for them to picture the written words and imagine a scene.

The most enjoyable section of my multi-genre is the picture session. So, to all of you readers, since I’m a more visual person the pictures just let you know of what I’m going to be talking about. Also follow the description below the picture so that you can understand better.

Back to the Future, movie reviewed by Joshua Tyler, http://www.cinemablend.com/reviews/Back-to-the-Future-65.html

In this movie review which is from the web page “cinema blend” where people can make or write down their own point of view and perspective of the movie ( any movie, this case Back to the future). Tyler, presents a more interesting yet satiric point of view where he “mocks” some of the details of the film. This movie review, in my opinion, is one that I can identify with since he explains in details the Marty Mac Fly character. Also he criticize the work of Christopher Lloyd  For the work he’s been doing lately for Disney.

“Back to the future” reviewed by Bill Giborn. August 31, 2006. DVD release date: Feburary 10,2009  http://www.filmcritic.com/reviews/1985/back-to-the-future/

In this movie review, Giborn focuses more on Robert Zemeckis (Director of Back to the Future)  and his minor and biggest successes in the film history . Also presents Zemeckis movies like “I want to hold your hand” and “Used Cars” that gave Zemeckis a little boost in the movie career. Later on he reviews about the character in the movie like Michel J. Fox and Thomas F. Wilson . He talks about one of Zemeckis oscar winner Forest Gump.

“Back to the Future” script, written by Robert Zemeckis & Bob Gale 1984. FOURTH DRAFT Revised 10-12-84, http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Back-to-the-Future.pdf

This here is a copy of the original script that was edited for the fourth time to make the movie. Also if you read pieces of the script, it is not exactly as it is in the movie, slightly changer were made but still, the same context. It has the details of how the movie is supposed to be filmed and also the dialogs.

Brain Storm, “An interview with Bob Gale” by Scott Holleran, November 18, 2003 (page 1 of 2). http://www.boxofficemojo.com/features/?id=1258&pagenum=all&p=.htm

This article is an interview with the producer and also director of the movie Bob Gale. Box Office Mojo which is the interviewers nickname, talks Gales and asks him questions about the philosophy, meaning and theme of the movie Back to th Future 1 (BTTF). Also Gales expresses the deception for the cliffhanger ending of BTTF2 for the fans when it came out. In this interview he points out the alternative ending he would have given. Another thing mention by Gale is the letters received by the fans who criticize the movie or the sequel. The times that the scrip was rejected by all the good movie companies and how they manage to finally get a ” contract” with universal studios.

Brown and Marty are hit by a sharp blast of air. Marty blinks in disbelief: it*s as if the car
never existed. Only the LICENSE PLATE is left behind — a vanity plate: “NO TIME.”
What *d I tell you? 88 miles per hour! Temporal displacement occurred at
(checks watch) exactly 1:02 a.m. and zero seconds.
Christ Almighty! You disintegrated Einstein!
Calm down, Marty. I didn*t disintegrate anything. The molecular structure of
both Einstein and the car are completely intact.
Then where the hell are they?
The appropriate question is: WHEN the hell are they. You see, Einstein has
just become the world*s first time traveler. I sent him into the future — one
minute into the future, to be exact. And at exactly 1:03 a.m. and zero
seconds, we shall catch up to him… and the time machine.

good grades or death?

When in college, the pressure of having too many exams or too many midterms, or also too many papers to hand in, leads you to a massive and desperate reaction of finishing as fast as you can. But one of the things that happen mostly is the thought of doing whatever it takes to finish your work. The other day, I was randomly flipping channels and I can’t recall right now which channel was, but they were talking abut the secrets of the students that go to the top universities. Also they were arguing about whether or not it is okay to use study drugs. So, I asked my self, What the hell is a study drug? where do they sell that?

The narrator  was making a list of the drugs they used to concentrate, but the most common one is ADERALL. Aderall is a drug that came out in the 60’s for weight lost. Later it was used for pacients with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD ( Hyperactivity or something like that!!) .  Adderall stimulates the central nervous system by increasing the amount of certain chemicals, such as dopamine and nor-epinephrine, in the brain. These chemicals, or neurotransmitters, help the brain send signals between nerve cells.

Most students used it, just to concentrate but the once that are addicted to it and snore because it gives you a faster effect, are the ones that probably are not aware of the side effects. The side effects of aderall are or could be, dry mouth, diarrhea, hot flashes, sweat, stomach pain, fever, increase of heart rate, etc. So, if you are using or thinking of using aderall, think back again if it’s worth taking the risk.

my brain’s on fire?

Since cell phone where invented, people have been more interested on this device. Just because of the fact that you can find anyone anywhere to talk about anything. Whether it’s interesting, important or none of the before mentioned, cell phones damage your head at some point. In my opinion not only psychologically but physically too. Since the year 2002, the estimated cell phone users population was  100 million and increasing. With this facts, we can assume that practically we are creating a dependency of a technological device that actually it is not that necessary. Actually cellphones should be used just for emergency, and having in mind that all excess  could be injurious.

What the hell is injurious? How can cellphone damage me? Are you crazy?

If any of these questions passed through your head, now you know that you have created a dependency and that you are damaging you brain. The cell phoneuses a low level for of microwave radiation to send and receive  the signal”.

So next time remember that when you put something to cook in the microwave, picture that the brain is the food and the cell phone the microwave, so that you understand the damage that you are causing to your brain.
